Fayetteville Childcare CEO Heads to Washington, D.C. to Advocate for Small Business Digital Rights
Fayetteville, NC – [May 20, 2025] — Kalisha Abercrombie, founder and CEO of The Drop Zone Drop-In Childcare and parenting advocate behind The Neighborhood Nana, is headed to Washington, D.C. as part of the Meta Leaders Network. She joins a select group of entrepreneurs from across the country to meet with policymakers and advocate for continued access to digital tools that power small businesses.
This marks Abercrombie’s second invitation to Capitol Hill to represent small business owners and share firsthand how digital tools like Facebook and Instagram are essential to business growth and community engagement.
Located in Fayetteville, The Drop Zone offers flexible, on-demand childcare—a model that supports military families stationed at Fort Liberty (formerly Ft. Bragg), as well as parents with unpredictable schedules and nontraditional households. The center’s ability to operate efficiently and scale awareness is powered in part by Meta platforms.
“Without digital tools, many families wouldn’t even know we exist,” said Abercrombie. “We serve parents who need us on short notice, those who work flex shifts, and those moving into the area without a network. Meta platforms help us build those connections quickly, consistently, and affordably.”
The Meta-sponsored trip includes meetings with legislators and policy discussions around:
The future of digital advertising and small business access
The power of personalized ads to connect with local communities
The use of AI tools to increase business efficiency and competitiveness
Abercrombie’s participation highlights the critical role mission-driven small businesses play in shaping tech policy and advocating for fair access to the digital economy.
