News Release: 10/7/2024

The annual Cumberland County Emergency Services Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 12, beginning at 11 a.m., at the newly dedicated Dr. Larry J. Keen Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) Regional Fire and Rescue Training Center at 775 Tom Starling Road in Fayetteville.

The memorial service is a solemn tribute to the firefighters, EMS and other emergency services heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty serving the citizens of Cumberland County and Fort Liberty. The ceremony will include a wreath-laying, roll call of fallen emergency services personnel, traditional firefighter 5-5-5 bell ringing and the playing of Taps.

Cumberland County Fire Commissioner Jimmy Keefe will deliver a keynote speech during the memorial service and Fayetteville City Councilman Derrick Thomas will read the city’s proclamation in observance of the memorial.

The Emergency Services Memorial has been relocated from the main campus at FTCC to the Fire and Rescue Training Center campus.
