Industry Training and General Construction Instructor - Corporate and Industry Training

Fayetteville Technical Community College is seeking experienced and passionate instructors in the construction field for this full-time position.
 
Instructors will develop, deliver, and assess hands-on training in general building construction concepts, materials, and techniques including but not limited to residential and commercial new construction; as well as construction skills and related topics such as site maintenance, safety practices, and tool usage in compliance with industry standards.
 
Ideal candidates are subject matter experts capable of teaching courses such as Residential and Commercial Construction, Carpentry, Electrical Wiring, Painting, Plumbing, Masonry, Equipment Repair, and other general trades. Instructors will empower students to succeed in skilled trades careers through engaging lectures, hands-on labs, work-based and/or apprenticeship experiences and a strong emphasis on safety, teamwork, and certification preparation.
 
This includes ensuring instruction aligns with industry standards, safety regulations, college policies and procedures, and the operational needs of the program.

Position Information:


The Corporate and Industry department provides individuals the basic skills needed for multiple trades including Carpentry, Electrical, Painting, Plumbing, Masonry, and Equipment Repair. Qualified applicants should have a passion for these trades and a strong desire to share these trades with others.
 
Qualified candidates will possess excellent computer skills, demonstrate evidence of flexible work experiences and a willingness to change; be open-minded, fair, and possess the ability to see multiple perspectives; be willing to take and manage risks and accept responsibility for both professional and personal growth.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of relevant field experience in Construction Technology.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent oral, auditory, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Construction Technology, or a related field (Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical) from an accredited college or university, or equivalent.
  • 10 years of documented fieldwork at the journeyman level or higher.
  • 10-20 years of supervisory experience as a foreman or higher.
  • Industry certifications including OSHA 30-Hour Construction, CPR/AED/First Aid, Work Zone Flagger Certification, and NCCER Instructor Certification Training Program (ICTP).
  • Prior experience teaching at the community college or four-year college.
