CityView Giving Tuesday Campaign

Save the Date! GivingTuesday will soon be upon us! We’re inviting CityView subscribers to mark their calendars for November 25 and stay tuned for details on how to participate in this year’s GivingTuesday campaign.

This year we’re thrilled to announce that donations made to the CityView News Fund during GivingTuesday will be enhanced by $525,000 raised by the Cumberland Community Foundation to support this effort. This match is made possible by Fayetteville New Car Dealers Association, Elizabeth “Beth” Keeney, Carol and Sammy Short, Daphne and Ray Manning, Will Gillis, the Board of Directors of Cumberland Community Foundation, Unrestricted Endowment Funds of Cumberland Community Foundation, and three anonymous donors. 

In order for your gift to be amplified by this generous match, it must be received between 9 a.m. Monday, November 25 and 5 p.m. Wednesday, December 4. Here’s how you can give:

• Give Online: Donate online at www.cityviewnewsfund.org during the campaign window from November 25 at 9 a.m. through December 4 at 5 p.m.

• Mail a Check: You can mail your check today and the Cumberland Community Foundation will hold it until the campaign opens! 

  • Checks can be mailed to: Cumberland Community Foundation, P.O. Box 2345, Fayetteville, NC 28302.  

  • Please ensure your check is payable to “Cumberland Community Foundation” with “GivingTuesday – CityView News Fund” noted in the check’s memo line! See example below.

• Deliver a Check: You can hand deliver your check to the Cumberland Community Foundation office located at 308 Green Street, Fayetteville, NC 28301. Parking and office entry are at the back of the building. After 5 p.m. and when the office is closed, please drop donation checks in the secure mail slot at the front of the building. 

  • Please ensure your check is payable to “Cumberland Community Foundation” with “GivingTuesday – CityView News Fund” noted in the check’s memo line! See example below.

Example of GivingTuesday Check Format

• Charitable IRA Rollovers: Donors who are 70.5 or older may make a gift directly from their IRA to Cumberland Community Foundation for GivingTuesday.

  • Please note your plan administrator must send the check directly to CCF. To ensure prompt gift acknowledgement, you can call (910) 483-4449 or send an email to gifts@cumberlandcf.org to let them know the amount of the check, the name of your plan administrator, and that you wish to benefit CityView News Fund.

  • Cumberland Community Foundation’s Tax ID # is 58-1406831.

  • We recommend initiating this transaction as early as possible to ensure it is received by December 4 at 5 p.m. IRA distributions may be received any time in November.

• Donate Stock: Gifts of stocks or other marketable securities from any brokerage firm are a great way to give and have your donation amplified! Stock gifts must be received into CCF’s account no later than December 4, 2024 to qualify for the GivingTuesday match.

• CCF Donor Advised Fund: You can easily recommend a grant for this campaign from your donor advised fund.  

  • CCF donor advised fund holders can recommend grants in a variety of ways: via mail, email, phone, or fax. For assistance with your donor advised fund, please contact Maddie Kellogg at Maddie@cumberlandcf.org.

  • Be sure to make your grant recommendation for CityView News Fund by 5:00 p.m. on December 4 for your distribution to be eligible for the CCF match!

• Donor Advised Fund with Another Organization: Make a grant recommendation out of your donor advised fund to CCF for the GivingTuesday campaign. Please notify your plan administrator in time for the gift to arrive no later than December 4!

  • You can make your grant recommendation payable to Cumberland Community Foundation (Tax ID # 58-1406831) and designated for GivingTuesday. Make sure to inform CCF that you plan to support CityView News Fund and the amount you wish to give!
